Moving to Hoboken
The demographic of Hoboken has changed over the years as the young professionals have started to settle down and plant their roots in the city. Despite its small size, Hoboken is home to 53,000 people with a median age of about 31 years old. Still, there’s a very large demographic of 18-24 year olds thanks to the presence of Stevens Institute of Technology. While it might seem like the population is transient, there are plenty of second and third generation Hoboken folks who are proud to call the city their home.
It might only cover two miles, but the city of Hoboken has plenty to offer visitors and residents alike. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, amazing views of the Manhattan skyline along the boardwalk, and more. Fans of baseball should also visit Hoboken as it’s home to Elysian Fields, the site of the first organized baseball game.
Of course, with New York City a stone’s throw away, you won’t ever be at a loss for fun events to attend. You can also hop on the NJ Transit to explore the great state of New Jersey more. Or, if you happen to get lucky and score a parking spot, you have easy access to I-95 which will take you all the way down to Florida if you want to take a road trip.
With all these amenities, it’s no surprise living in Hoboken isn’t cheap. Rents might be more affordable than New York City, but it’s more expensive than many other New Jersey Cities. The overall cost of living is also on the higher end and you’ll be dealing with more expensive groceries and utilities. Still considering the sheer amount of stuff you can do, it’s a small price to pay to be around the action! Plus, there are plenty of job opportunities available both in Hoboken and a quick PATH ride away in Manhattan.
